SafariSafari is Apple Computer's Web browser . It is the default browser in Apple's OS X and is currently only available for that operating system. Safari was developed in-house by Apple and released in 2003. Safari features tabbed browsing, similar to Firefox and Opera , RSS feed support and integration of Apple's Quicktime multimedia player. Safari also has a search field that uses Google's search engine . Apple's Keychain identify management scheme manages passwords. Other standard features include a pop-up ad blocker, spell check, bookmark management and integration with Apple's iWeb software. Safari is based upon Apple's Webkit , an application framework based upon two open source framework s, WebCore and JavascriptCore . The source code for the non-rendering portions of Safari are all available at OpenDarwin.org. Other Web browsers include Firefox , Internet Explorer , Opera and Mosaic , developed in 1993 and the original code base for Netscape's browser, Lynx .
